João Pessoa

The capital of Paraíba, João Pessoa, is one of the most promising destinations for holding congresses and conventions in Brazil. Combining modern infrastructure, stunning natural beauty and a rich cultural heritage, the city offers the ideal environment for successful events.

One of the capitals with the best quality of life in the Northeast, João Pessoa is known as the "Gateway to the Sun", because the city is home to Ponta do Seixas, the most eastern point in the Americas, which makes the city known as the place "where the sun rises first on the American continent". A peaceful destination, but also known for its beautiful beaches, forró, São João festivities, lively bars, beautiful historic buildings and a very welcoming population.

With sunshine most of the year and one of the most beautiful coastlines in the country, João Pessoa provides a pleasant atmosphere for events. The urban beaches of Seixas, Tambaú, Cabo Branco, Manaíra and Bessa are postcards that enchant visitors, offering moments of leisure after professional commitments.

How to arrive to João Pessoa by plane

João Pessoa is one of the main cities in the Northeast, with easy access from other capitals in the region and from major centers in the country. Regular flights from the capital of Paraíba take place via Presidente Castro Pinto International Airport, located in the municipality of Santa Rita (Metropolitan Region). It is located approximately 23 km from the event venue (UNIESP).

When searching for flights, we recommend that you also look for flights to Recife (PE) (115KM), Campina Grande (PB) (120KM) or Natal (RN) (160KM). As they are nearby cities, it is sometimes worth traveling from these cities to João Pessoa via Uber, Taxi or even Rental Car.

Where to stay

  • Hotel Manaíra - 3.7 km from the event location
  • Kastel Jampa Hotel - 4.1 km from the event location

If you want to search for hotels that are closer to the event, we recommend searching in the Bessa and Manaíra neighborhoods.

If, in addition to the event, you are interested in enjoying the city even more, we recommend looking for hotels on the beaches of Cabo Branco and Tambaú.

Where to eat

Near the event venue (UNIESP) there is Manaíra Shopping, which is approximately 700m away (walking), there you can find numerous options from snacks to meals.

If you want to experience a little more about Paraíba cuisine, there is also Mangai at Shopping Manaíra, however, visiting the Mangai Restaurant outside the shopping mall is a different experience.

If you enjoy seafood, we suggest you go to Nau Frutos do Mar, which is also located in Manaíra Shopping, but the experience at the restaurant is quite interesting. Another option for seafood is Camarada Camarão, located in Mag Shopping, where you will also have the opportunity to enjoy a beautiful view of the sea.

What to do in João Pessoa

João Pessoa has a very extensive urban coastal strip, consequently the vast majority of attractions revolve around the coast.

  • Walk along the waterfront: The João Pessoa waterfront is closed between 5 and 8 am, so take the opportunity to get up early and go for a walk before going to the event.
  • Natural Pools: There are several catamarans that offer tours to the natural pools of Picãozinho and Seixas. These tours usually take a whole morning, depending on the tide table.
  • Red Sand: Consists of a sandbank of a darker color, with reddish tones, which forms at low tide near Praia do Poço in the municipality of Cabedelo, neighboring João Pessoa.
  • Tour to the Beaches of the South Coast: Learn about the history and culture of a quilombola community, visit paradisiacal beaches and enjoy the privileged view from the top of some of the most famous viewpoints in Paraíba.
  • São Francisco Cultural Center: Located in the historic center, the Cultural Center is located in an architectural complex formed by the Church and Convent of Santo Antônio, the Chapel of the Third Order of São Francisco, the Chapel of São Benedito, the House of Prayer of the Third Order (called the Golden Chapel), the Cloister of the Third Order, a fountain and a large churchyard with a cross, constituting one of the most notable examples of Baroque architecture in Brazil. Due to its importance, it was listed by IPHAN.
  • Sunset at Jacaré: The late afternoon at Jacaré Beach in Cabedelo offers stunning views. A boardwalk full of shops, cafes and snack bars was built on the banks of the Paraíba River, from where you can admire the orange sunset to the sound of musician Jurandy do Sax, who plays Ravel's Bolero every day while he meanders in a canoe through the waters of the river beach.
